It was full of work, fun, frustration, music, good friends, roadblocks and accomplishments. All in all, it was a good time.
We got the bathroom completely gutted!! It was a big job, but Mark and I are a great team and we got right to 'er. And then Chris was here to help carry out the tub and toilet - yay! Off to the dump with all the garbage while I ripped out the wall. So much rot - WAY more than I ever thought, and of course there was mould. The sneezy, wheezy, coughy kind. I'm so glad to be rid of it all. I am feeling right back to normal. We ripped it all out and cleaned what was left. There was no sealing and nothing was done properly. Just a quicky job to make it look good. That's what we had. So, all of it is all done right now. Well, what we have done so far.
We've got the subfloor in and the plumbing done. All the plywood and tar paper and studs are replaced. Insulation is in and vapour barrier. Then, we got the tub mortared in. Takes so much extra time when you have to let everything dry for 24 hours .... So, we got the cement board up last night and tested all the plumbing for leaks - we're good!!! And of course I had to try the tub out. It really is beautiful. It is a great fit and very comfy and cozy. And perfect for reading. It could be longer ... if only our bathroom was bigger :) I want to plug up the overflow drain though so all the water doesn't leak out when I fill it up to the tippy top - hehehe. I know it is likely not a great idea, but our old tub was like that and I've never overflowed it :)
So, tonight we need to mud the drywall. Let it dry. Next day have to paint the redguard on. It's like a think paint that totals waterproofs and seals the walls. The tile should do that in itself, but we really want to do everything right, and it is just one extra little step. It'll be worth it. Hopefully, the tile is in today, and maybe we'll get started on that tonight as well. It is a pain with all the drying times that you have to leave in between everything. Sure makes a project drag on. But, at least we're getting there. And doing it ourselves, which is always nice and cheap :)
We had Bern and jeff and Emma and Doug and Sarah here on Sat to lend a hand and have some fun with Sat night. It was really great of them, and a fun time with some yummy snacks. And thank god for good neighbours who will let you borrow their shower. At least we have a toilet :)
Am heading out to Gaidhlig lessons tonight and really looking foward to it.
I'm still sticking with the exercise and am trying to get the eating thing going right, so I'll keep you posted on that.
