Back to the Grind

Well, we're all back at it. And I'm happy to say that we are sort of in some kind of a routine. As good as it gets with 8 in the house anyway :) All are doing well and are healthy. Makayla's homework has been much more manageable as she has a substitute - haha!

Phaedra is a dream child. So loving and kissy and huggy and so easy to talk out of a tantrum - it is so easy. I hope it stays that way!!!!

Deylin is a riot. He is learning lots more Gaelic and really gets into pretend play now. It is so precious to listen to him talk and "sing". Mari, remember when C was so into trains, and maybe still is - I couldn't really understand it. It is such a different thing when you witness it. He is addicted to Thomas. He plays with the trains every day for at least two hours. Couldn't have made a better investment.

Mark is good. He's going to start going to the gym in the mornings. I'll be on my own to get the kids up and going, but he's on his own at bedtime when I'm out, so I'll be really happy to do something for him. Hopefully, it'll all work out.

I'm taking Gaelic 2-3 times a week and have millings and board meetings from time to time. Makayla and I are also trying to take step dancing too. How we'll ever fit it all in, I'll never know. I'm going to give it a try for the 10 weeks anyway and then reevaluate after that.

Sooooo, Makayla needs glasses. In a way I am surprised and disappointed. Each year, she's been better than 20/20 and all of a sudden she needs glasses. I guess she really doesn't mind the idea of wearing them so that is a blessing. I remember crying when I had to get them. She picked out some cute pairs, but not my favourite Nancy Drew ones. She is getting so independent!!!

Still haven't done anything to celebrate D's bday. I think it might be the end of Oct before we do. Trying to coord schedules has been nutty!!! Thanks to you ladies for sending him some treats, but really not necess!! Hard not to though, I love buying for the kids. Mar, you sound really settled about xmas, so I am going to be respectful, but it hurts :) I know that we are all in the same boat though, and I soooooooo understand. I hope it takes some pressure off!!!

Our anniversary is coming up. I just can't believe how long we've been married!!!! 6 years. The time flew. And no honeymoon yet!! One without kids I mean. Hard decisions coming up. We want to go to FA with kids while Elaine is there, yet want to go on a honeymoon - and we can only do one!!!!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, what else is new? I guess that's it. I'm enjoying life, just wish I had some more hours in it, or less housework, or a maid or all of the above.

Looking forward to the fall and scrapbooking and bike riding and geocaching, and maybe even some archery thrown in there!!!

I understand what you mean about buying for kids. I have been seeing stuff that I think the kids would like but really feel that I should stick to my guns! Maybe next year but we need to get our finances in order. Sides, it isn't about the gifts :) I just hope we get to all you folks up there!!! I will be up again but who knows about the rest of the crew.

Sounds like you're super busy. Hope you do get to enjoy some fun stuff too!

My vote - go on a honeymoon and love every single second of it...you might even wanna take me ;)

I hear you about the gifts. I'll be on MAT leave so I'm buying now. Hope a cake will do for the family as a gift (sorry to spoil the surprise). I'm buying from MS so it's going to a good cause and the tin is really pretty. :)

My vote - HONEYMOON!!!! The girls already did Flordia and D's young enough that he wouldn't get the full effect by going (if you were doing Disney). Besides, you two SO deserve it!!
