This is the day that we met up with Maura. N was out at the horse races. So we had some tea and a grand visit with her. She has travelled a lot and shared many stories with us. It was a really great to hear all of her stories and she was great at telling them!!
Then her daughter, Miranda, dropped in to visit on the way home from work. She was great to visit also and gave us a different perspective on Irish life.
It was amazing how much I found that they sounded like Newfoundlanders and had similar accents and sayings. It was really neat.
After tea and biscuits, we saw a bit of their history and a castle that they had owned and one they still own. Quite fascinating and a lot of restoration work!!!
We went to a nearby hotel owned by Nicholas' brother and family and met up with N there and had a nice supper while a fella played guitar. Nicholas was a great story teller as well and reminded me of my dad in that way. He was so animated. They used to be in the hotel business and would take off in Jan and travel with their 5 children for 3 or 4 weeks to all different places. Their favourite was Australia. Maybe Mark can get a contract over there!! :)
Sadly, we had to head back and wished it could be different. A pretty uneventful trip home in the rain and high winds. We got back safe and sound just in time to talk to the kiddies back home on the webcam. Thank god for that!!! It was a really great way to keep in touch and they loved it as much as we did!
