Well, where to start??
All I knew was that we were going to go geocaching, and then I assumed dinner and hotel, since the cat was let out of the bag about the overnight :)
So, I was really stoked to go caching with Mark. I want him to get to like it and he really hasn't had that much of a chance to really give it a try. Anyway, he got home from work early and gave me a printout of a cache to find by myself!!! So, my tummy starts rolling and I am going to throw up. I don't know why I react to surprises like that - but I do. Just the same for the spa appt in NF. I almost couldn't go due to nauseousness!!
The cache details were so precious. Lots of love and detail included. I thought it was all so clever. The waypoint took my to Inn on the Lake, where I used code word "Laurie" to get to my room.
There I found some champagne and lots of little bottles of Dooley's. Do you know what that is?? It is a licquer that is toffee flavoured. Oh my god - so good!! I drank 5 of them before the day was out ... all spaced out though :) Anyway, there was also a note for me to enjoy and have a bath, read, relax and enjoy no kids. DH would be meeting me later for dinner and to stay the night.
So, I ended up having 3 baths yesterday!!! now, I just need to get dunked in oil to get some moisture back - hehe. The tub was so dreamy. I was in it right up to my neck and so totally cozy. And there were even arm rests so it was totally comfy to read. My god, how I wish that I could own one of those. It is on my huge purchase list along with king size bed and dishwasher. mmmmm I can dream, right??
So, that was all totally awesome. Then, DH met up with me and we went to supper at their fancy restaurant. He had Chicken Cordon Blue, very nice .. you know me - I have to taste test anything on the same table :) And I had the blackened chicken. I was nervous about getting this one as I don't like to eat black charcoal, but they made it sound really good. And I didn't regret it. It was absolutely delicious. It was "blackened" with spice, not with overcooking and it was served with magno chutney - awesome - ginger carrots - delish - and zucchini cut really fancy. It was all delicous. Oh yeah, and scalloped potatoes just like Derek!
Oh, and for an app we had spinach and artichoke dip. Bern's is MUCH better, but this was still okay. Then for dessert, I was soooooooooooooooooooooooo stuffed!!!, we shared a creme brulee. It is my fav dessert and I think it was absolutely the best I ever had!!! So, I was totally stuffed but it was yummy.
Then as we were leaving to head back to the room we stopped at the front desk to chat. Turns out that Mark's best high school friend and one time huge crush was working there. I've always heard so much about her and couldn't really understand why they didn't keep in touch considering they still live near each other and never had a falling out. So, we had a great time reconnecting with her. Well, me meeting her and Mark reconnecting. She is a great girl. I just loved her. And turns out that we ran into her husband one time at the airport and had a long visit, and I just loved him too.
So we caught up and exchanged numbers. I'm really going to encourage Mark to get in touch. He really likes the both of them. And all I can think is how much I'd love to be in touch with my one time best friend. And how much I still miss him. And how short life really is. So, hopefully we'll be meeting up with them again.
Then we headed back to our room and had a great visit with each other. It is just so nice to relax and catch up and chat and chat and chat. It was a great night, I loved it. I felt so special and loved and cherished. And although I probably am all of the time, I don't feel it nearly as often. I hope that DH knows how loved and cherished he is as well. Cause he is.
So, that sums it up! A very happy v-day to me! And all of you!
Oh yeah, and called my other bf from a lifetime ago b/c Mark is flying to his town today so they are going to get together. I sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo wish I was going as I could have stayed there free. Too bad I can't fly free. That is one really nice thing about working for an airline. Now, if I could just win the lotto! :)
Have a great day everyone!!
PS Really enjoying The Memory Keepers Daughter so far.

Okay, now I'm racking my brain about the old bf now in BC. Hmmm...you'll have to remind me.
Oh, and on a personal note, DH showed up at work with a huge bouquet for me. Only trouble was I was OUT OF THE BUILDING!!! Darn it! Oh well, my desk smells amazing! Wish I had Smell-o-blogger. :)
