Happy Thanksgiving!!!

We had a super weekend!!! Yay!!!!

Saturday, Makayla, Phaedra and I went to pick up Cindy, Colton and Connor - friends of ours. We decided to head down to the valley and pick apples. We were also looking for something fun along the way. We decided to head to Oaklawn Farm/Aylesford Zoo ... again. And of course - the kids LOVED it. We had a picnic - thanks Cindy!! - and then we went in.

I still feel sad for some of the animals ... but, I also feel lucky to see them. Some of them seem so happy, content and well cared for. Others just seem to have a broken spirit and it is heart wrenching :(

The gibbons were very entertaining and we saw baby Paddy ... he was born in March but still as tiny as when we saw him last. Phaedra saw the mama hanging from a long while she peed and pooped ... you'd think she got a million dollars. She was so excited. I guess it really is the little things - ha! :)

After that, we stopped and bought some gourds. I just love them. I find them so unique and special cause they are tiny ... like cute little kittens. We got some baby pumpkins too, just mini ones ... they are sweet!

We also stopped and I picked up some chinese lanterns which I LOVE and didn't know you could buy. I was sooo excited and they were only 2$. Then there was a bakery with the best oatcakes I've ever had. And the kids loved them too. They were like a cross between a tea biscuit and an oat cake. Kinda soft and a bit fluffy. Totally delicious.

Then we stopped for some snacks on the way home and called it a day. Mark was at home busy getting the garage finished - it's done!!! The outside anyway. And he got the chimney cleaned too. So, good to get some things checked off the list.

I arrived home just in time to get the kids to bed, change and head out for a belated date with my hubby.

We went to the Vines for supper - and it was OPEN!!!! Score!! We had an absolutely fabulous meal. I took more than half home and had it for lunch the next day. Adn was still soooooo full that we had to skip dessert. Maybe next time.

After that, we went to see The Guardian. My god, was it ever good. I hate how it ended though, but know it was poetic. It was a great movie. I always used to think that Kevin Costner was hot, but didn't impress me much in recent years. Well, he's back and looks great. And loved his playing of this character. Just super!!!

On Sunday, it was Mark's Dad's birthday. We went out there for a birthday celebration and for Thanksgiving dinner. It was a really nice visit and a great meal. And the baby loved the dressing and the pumpkin pie.

On Monday, we met up with Phil Peek. He was Mark's best man and now has a baby same age as Phaedra named Jackson. It was so great to see them. I just love Phil. And Jackson is gorgeous. We went to the Westmount school playground - again .. and they all loved it. I was wearing a sweater and was roasting to death. Just couldn't believe how nice the weather was and has been for the last bunch of days.

I am still crossing my fingers about my tomatoes and the dahlias are coming up nicely. I was sooooo late with all of them!!!

That about sums up our weekend. Mark gave his notice at work and flies home tonight. Seems like he just left. I swear we're going to have to learn to live together all over again :) Should be fun!
